I teeter at the edge
The chasm seems deeper
This time and the bottom
Is littered with old
Pieces if my life
I leave a bit every time I go there
And I cry that I won’t fall this time
But I will
I’m already drawing away
From the people I care about
Because they don’t belong
With me at times like this
The fall is ugly and bloody
Any beauty I have left
Is scraped off like the skin
Of a snake in the hot days of August
Leaving me bare and deformed
And for now …I just need to hide

This piece holds stunning imagery and profound depth. I like the way you broke your sentences up, adding atmosphere. One can taste despair in your phrases:
"...the bottom Is littered with old Pieces of my life..."
and
"...Any beauty I have left Is scraped off like the skin Of a snake..."
I know the feeling evoked in this descriptive piece. (((HUGS)))

We all get the sensation off falling into the abyss and need to hide away if only in our minds. Great write.I wrote one similar a while ago called The Void. I get much the same feeling from this one. Gregg
