My 15 year old grandson asked me to write an example of an invitation to dance written in Elizabethan, iambic pentameter and with a proper rhyme scheme and from romeo to juliette or vice versa. i was able to do only this poor sample and would love help.
I beg come hither my sweet juliette
I long to gaze upon thy beauty fine
As day longs to lay claim the suns bright rays
So does this knave long to make thee all mine
Asking only that you have mercy kind
Upon this soul who loves so ardently
Grant me this boon oh lady of mine
Promise a dance you will save just for me

Hi Sue...If it will help you I have an Elizabethan Sonnet on my site...the title is "God's Earth" and elizabethan sonnet...I followed a form to write this poem....maybe just looking at it will help you. I dont think you are too far from it...I love what you did so far...Floria

I cant help finish it but can tell you that it is a beautiful start to what will become a great masterpiece of romantic poetry great start so far!!!!
