All we see are stars and stripes
But it represents so much more....
If our American flag could speak
Is this what it would say....

Poem Artwork

A dark and humid morning
A soldier kneels and prays
He dreams of family and home
As he counts the days
He don't hear the gunfire
As the bullet finds its place
He's left hurt and bleeding
Disbelief etched on his face
With pride I stand and wave
Amist war and crimson stains
You can raise me to the skies
But you can't touch my pain

******************************

I'm the red white and blue
But there is so much more to see
Blood, tears and a soldiers screams
Are sown inside of me
With every stitch of the needle
Another prayer is said
As the war rages on and on
Another soldier is dead
I wave with pride and glory
As the world goes insane
You can raise me to the skies
But you can't touch my pain

*******************************

A soldier's mother weeps in anquish
Clutching a picture of her son
Nothing can ever bring him back
When all is said and done
I hear the cries of the forgotten
Tears America can't see
A soldier holding his dying friend
No bitter taste of victory
A child weeps over her fathers grave
Standing in the pouring rain
You can raise me to the skies
But you can't touch my pain...

Linda,

I may not be able to touch it, but felt it in these powerful words...yes. This is excellently penned, an outstanding tribute.

Another great piece of work to chill me to the bone, as only you can do Linda. Nobody ever really knows the pain of a son/daughter or other family member killed until it has happened to them. Your writing is awesome, and we are all better people for reading your work sweets.

love always,

Ross

WOW-Awesome piece! This left me with
many chills! Only those who have been
there can understand the pain. I have
a few choice words about the pain, but
I am NOT LETTING IT STOP ME!
Lotsa Love,
Becca

Linda,
Exceptional!
You're right..We can't touch her pain, nor can we touch the pain of the soldiers she guides. Unless one has been there, or is there, the true understanding is far greater than most minds can go.
I thank you, for reminding me, just where my loyalty lies, we all get lost sometimes, and it's those like you that turns on the light for the lost.
Thank You Linda!

Oh, Linda. This is. . .almost too much. You have done a fantastic
job. Thank you for reminding those who would forget that war is an equal opportunity maimer and killer. That is, if you happen to be an
average joe or jane who needs a regular salary and ...'something mas-
querading as security?' I, too, love this country. Have been
proudly saluting the flag for more years than I care to admit. But
there are 'causes' that do not, nor ever will, warrant the slaughter
of men and women {too many of whom were just starting out in life}.
