Sometimes.....looks can be deceiving
Who knows what's living deep inside
Does beauty buy love..or money happiness....
She applies her makeup
With an elegant air
Combs until it shines
Her short blond hair
The latest fashion
Graces her demure frame
The clothes in her closet
Bear all the brand names
She smiles at the neighbors
As she locks her front door
Just like she's done
A thousand times before
She climbs in her car
The finest Roll's around
Such a beautiful lady
Whispers the whole town
She stops at a river
How peaceful it seems
She takes off her shoes
And abandons her dreams
She walks the last mile
The river claims her life
Such a beautiful lady
Most perfect wife...
You have covered this very well Linda. I have told many, looks disguise the heart. Beauty is found within the heart and soul, not your appearance. Thank you (From one Light worker)
I'm speculating that it was spousal abuse -- most perfect wife -- tired of the charade. Too bad she felt that this was her only out. We see it so often, and it breaks our hearts.
Why she did it so calmly, what determination overran al her senses and let the self destruct program to be fulfilled?
Felix said it clearly...too much left unsaid...
An extraordinary piece!

So much left unsaid and unanswered here, and such a wonderful way to let the reader draw their own conclusions, was she abused, sick, mentally ill...many paths could have led her to that river and secrets disguised by her world trappings will come to light sooner or later.
The imagery in this poem sets up the reader for all its' intenseness!
Extraordinary work . . . !!
