A very heart-felt and beautifully written poem, Linda. These situations are all too common. In our hurry-up world, many are too self-engrossed to pay attention to the plight of others. But I think if I had to put my finger on the underlying cause of this apathy, it would have to be the law of supply and demand. This is an economic rule that values those things in short supply and devalues those in oversupply. Unfortunately, in our world, people are in oversupply. This has the unhappy consequence that a large number of us are marginalized, or devalued in the eyes of a large number of the rest of us. I don't see this changing for the better until population deflation finds its way into our lives.

Heartfelt. Sadly the world is in this shape. People do care, but for some reason people fear to help because of getting into some kind of trouble. I help when I have the opportunity, but I don't help like I use too. The world's society is more to punish an innocence helper. Like for an example, if a little girl is lost and she ask me to help her. The first thing people think and ask is, is that his or your kid, has he abducted her? What I would do is, ask the nearest woman to help this lost little girl. My word, I’ve had 3 little daughters and a son. Woman clerks would always ask me, are those your daughters? I could just feel what a new clerk was thinking. The world’s society today has a sickening abuse paranoia instilled in their brains. Most men are paranoid when around small children.
If you give a homeless person some money 90% of them will buy booze and the like. I offered a homeless person this, I’ll buy you some food, oh no! I need money! I said, you said, you needed food. He never would go for the food, so he didn’t get any money. Don’t get me wrong Linda, I do help with open arms, but I pick and choose who I help. This is a great write of yours Linda. WEll government should care. Many of the homeless are vets! Our government especially the current regime, only cares to line their pockets with green! Excellent insightful writing.

It really is sad, Linda. And we see too much of it on the news, that's for sure. I just wish some of these people who seem to lose so much would somehow comprehend they already have it all.
