I had a date with a beautiful lady today
It was one that I just had to keep
I walked with, and loved Mother Nature
In fall woods that would soon be asleep

Yes I came, and I saw Mother Nature
And Her trees all emblazoned with gold
And the mad love affair that I had with Her there
Is a treasure I ever shall hold

I sat by Her side at a small hidden lake
Where awhile back, the loons cried their call
And I gazed at Her breathtaking splendour
And I thought 'What a beautiful fall'

I didn't even have to feel guilty
With Her kind of beauty nearby
For the only love that I was sharing
Was with water, the trees and the sky

And although my dear mate may not quite understand
These times that I break and run free
The only affair that was going on there
Was between this old girlfriend and me.

For I am Nature's child...
