I have no sword to fall upon

except this poem I write

And on it here

My heart I spear

As love gives up its fight.

My soul will spill

as dreams I kill

bleeding them of  might

and thrust this sword

in love adored

 snuffing out its  light.

My soul will fade upon this blade

accepting love is gone

but faith long-spent

will not repent

this deed that I must don.

My weapon’s thrust

I know I must

succumb to

for OUR end
 while 'time' must  terror

at my hours of error

but more ,I will  not spend.

I write this word that now must be

I drop upon it hard

to scribe it is eternally

doomed to see me scarred.

I write these seven letters now

to see the word

'Goodbye’

and here I jab this word to stab

 upon my heart…and…die.

I have no sword to fall upon

except one word I call:

It is

Goodbye,
goodbye,
goodbye
....

the sword on which... I fall.

Absolutly brilliant, Kay I am so glad you put the footnote on this, because it is so very, very sad, "the literary death of a fantastic poetess", suicide by the pen, such a heartbreaking thought,
please never stop writing, your heart, your soul and your poetry are far too good to lose,
I hope all is well,
From your pommy Pal Steve

Wow! An outstanding write! You've penned this so well that I like Felix was a bit worried for a moment! This would be a great poem for an English class...I had a college teacher that would devour this one! Great write, you've outdone yourself!

This is so real that I was truly worried so I am glad you added the footnote for sure. Exceptional write dear Kay and one that is almost classical in it's language and flow. Very well done and I hope all is well.

My goodness Kay, this poem sent shivers down my spine!
It is a superb write, but I'm praying you meant it
being fiction! You are missed and I wish you would post
more, but I do understand...my ill health keeps me from
many things! Please take care sweet Kay!

It's a much slower way to die by hanging on to love long gone.
Wise words. It would save a lot of grief if everyone heeded the message.

Good to see you post,
Elizabeth
