The present economy may be the adversity that will try our faith...

This economy is like a dragon gone wild. Who knows there his barbed tail will strike next? On a better note, I don't know what tomorrow will hold But I know who holds tomorrow. (as the songwriter said) Nothing we can lose in this world can compromise our joy in the next. Jesus said in this world we would have tribulation--troubles, sorrow--but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world. Can we be of good cheer when the lights go out in our world—knowing this is not the end of the story? Our faith is tested by adversity and no one knows another's pain. We may know OF It, but we do not know IT. In that sense we bear our own burdens. God grant us compassion for those who suffer and hope when the way ahead looks dark and dismal. I am not sure if I completely agree with you that we can't know another's pain. I understand that each of us has different perspectives on things because of our innate differences, and so I can see your point. But...on the other hand...It seems rather depressing to think that we can't lift another's pain or share in someone's grief and that we have to carry our own burdens or give them to the Lord. I realize that your whole point is to give our burdens to the Lord, but so often His angels are those among us who walk upon the earth... I know how often my grief, although maybe somewhat different, has been lifted and carried by others who have shared the path with me.

Good analogy here as I'm thinking that the dragon is in fact a construct of the demon/dragon who fell from the stars to tempt the sons of men into losing their own souls while tasting the sweetness of his offering in the garden.
