Lunar silver
midnight-blue,
the chimeras dream
the evening sky.

Fantasy hides
from the day.
I am a star
passing strangely by.

Madness dances
in the wind
as Fancy cuts
with terrible delight.

Wonder steals
my breath away.
Lost and drifting,
my words turn to ice.

Wheels within wheels,
spinning out of control,
chasing the shadow-shapes
back-lit within my soul.

Elemental lords...masters of the Tao...

I depend on you
for my sanity
For you know the world
as it wants to be.

Waiting in the silence
where rhymes cannot go,
You guard the blazing embers--
once the gateposts of my soul.

If I go--will you follow
If I soar into the sun?
Will you gather cups of ashes
where the chimeras run?

If I rise on the windsong,
If I catch a falling star,
Will you take me ever higher
where I've never been before?

Lord Tiger and Dragon,
you divide the earth and sky,
but the phoenix rules
the hearts she passes by.

Fiercely, she defends
A dreamer's moon-bright stare
who sees in the center
all the things that are not there.
