The sun poured down
in a golden glaze.
The wind left the hills
in a cinnamon haze
'til the night gave us
a place to hide
We grew wild
in days that were free,
laughing on the shore
of eternity.
We were stones that stood
outside the rising tide.
Those were the days I find,
I return to in my mind.
when I need to renew
the heart in me.
Those were the times we dared
when we came to see and share
from soul to soul,
a crystal clarity.
Now the world has turned
She's winding down.
Cold ashes remain
of our common ground.
But holdin' on is all
we really know.
As shadows crawl,
I turn to you
dreams washed from my eyes
by tears that are new.
Can't we try harder
not to let everything go?
Those were the days I find,
I return to in my mind.
when I need to renew
the heart in me.
Those were the times we dared
when we came to see and share
from soul to soul,
a crystal clarity.
