In ancient times,
men of earth
played beneath the Sky--
Envious of the
far-above lights that
wheeled forever by--

With Death in hand
they climbed the stars
wounding day and night--
and quarrelled o'er
the sun and moon
to possess the light--

Darkness covered
all the land
as the treasures dimmed--
and mountains shook
spitting fire
from somewhere deep within--

For in a cavern
lost and cold
the Sky was laid to rest--
But he had slain
death in dying
with a final breath--

On a shadowed brier,
He was chained,
Stirring back to life--
and with a stolen mantle
men of earth
cut him with a knife--

They filled their lamps
with his blood.
It burned to light their way--
And sealed within
the hidden tomb,
the darkness soon forgot the day--

But whispers raced on the wind,
a mad priest
with a prophecy--
promised the arrival of
one to set
the Chain-God free!
