Ancient warriors clash...

He came from lands
lost in time
with dragon helm
and demon blades
And cut a path
through champions
'till all that moved
were night shades.

Blood dripped from
the hands he used,
reaching for a
fallen crown.
He placed it on
his own fierce brow
As nightmare stalked
each keep and town.

He sent men forth
to gather tribute,
a hill of gold
to touch the sky.
And altars dark
to nameless gods
collected corpses
piled high.

Death, despair,
and darkness filled
the blighted kingdoms
once so fair.
Then came a hero
from sylvan realms
fierce, untamed,
with raven hair.

He bore a sword
forged from iron
given by
a fallen star
Wolves and hawks
fought beside him
and hoped ignited
near and far.

The warriors met
on wind-swept sod
and fought long
into the day.
and troubadours
composed their songs
as villagers
kneeled to pray.

As eventide
began to fall
Men of iron
quelled to see
blows that fell
like thunder-strike
to slay a king
and set them free.

Without a crown
without rest
the hero knight
slipped away.
His wounds were tended
in forest glades
by tree-bound maidens
bright and fey.

Memory of Man
and sword would pass
until stirring shadows
came once more
Then need would call
The hero forth
And green eternity
would ride to war.
