THE MAGIC PUMPKIN

This is about the Magic Pumpkin which
comes to life on Halloween and the fun
he has on that enchanted night.

THE MAGIC PUMPKIN

It happened on Halloween
When eerie and still,
A brisk wind was blowin,
Eerie and chill.
In an old pumpkin field
Outside of town,
It wandered and searched,
Up hill and down.
The wind sounded like music
As it did its wild dance
And waked the Magic Pumpkin
From its still, lonely trance.
The bright moon beamed down
On the pumpkin's broad face.
There was no expression,
Not even a trace.
Then all of a sudden, two
Eyes opened wide!
Great pools of intellignce
From which nothing could hide.
The wind was excited,
Its voice getting shrill.
The Magic Pumpkin was waking
On the side of the hill.
A nose and a mouth followed
The opening eyes
To form an expression
Both worldly and wise.
He saw the vines shaking
As if in alarm,
Then sighted a figure,
A scarecrow's gaunt form.
"Wind, bring me that form
To borrow tonight.
Quickly, go quickly,
Hurry your flight!"
The wind brought the form
And laughed with delight,
Enjoying the fun this Halloween night.
From atop his wood frame,
With straw hands and feet,
The Magic Pumpkin could dance
To the wind music's beat.
What fun they had and
What tricks on mere men
They played and enjoyed
And danced until when
The night started to fade,
Calling them back to the farm
Where the scarecrow and the
Pumpkin returned to the norm.
But don't mourn or miss them,
No, don't you feel sad.
It was a wonderful, glorious
Night that they had.
And time passes so quickly,
In only one year
The Magic Pumpkin will wake,
Come again to us here.
He and the wind
The old Farm will leave
To share with us again,
All Hallows Eve!
