Two childhood lovers separated at puberty.

Old Friends and Heartaches

By Jim Stewart c 1988

There is a spot in my head

That was taking up space.

Then you came along

And took over the place

And the fire started burning

There was something for me to gain.

And "Old Friends" and "Heartaches"

Have brought me pleasure and pain.

I think of you often

Even more than I should.

Thinking about the what ifs

Instead of the good.

And the fire is still burning

What's left for me to do?

Because "Old Friends" and "Heartaches"

Have brought me pleasure and pain.

Long time since I've seen you

But you were on my mind.

I'd sure like to see you

Just one more time.

But the fire has burned out

And there is nothing left to gain.

And "Old Friends" and "Heartaches"

Have brought me pleasure and pain.

Sweet memories of a time long passed, yet they still linger in that magic box to show itself every now and then, beautiful writing...

Be always safe,

i feel I don't need anymore friends either. But my doctor said I have a lot to give to people, am a people person. I'll see when I move how I can be friends to them in the apartment complex. At least smile at them as I go by them on my way somewhere. This is a good poem**********.
