The Late Late Show
If I could,
I would
Rewind my psyche,
Much like Sam the piano man,
Playing it again,
your Bogie
to my Bacall.
Fade in,
fade out …
Bad times on the cutting room floor.
Simple days,
blacks and whites
and muted grays,
When a kiss was more than that,
The end was a beginning,
and heroes never died.
Fade to now:
A million bit-map colors
of pyrotechnic chaos,
While the band plays on
for dancers,
dead and dying,
And there are no heroes anymore.
