In Search of Brigadoon Of all the places that I’ve seen There’s none better meant for me Than a place in far off Scotland Where the best in life is free. There’s a pleasant little village Nestled somewhere in the hills You can satisfy your longings In a place where time stands still. If you search you’ll never find it Unless your spirit's so inclined To mystic things and magic It’s all a state of mind. Come, set your mind to music To laughter and to dance Perhaps you’ll find your calling If you'll only take a chance. The town folk are so friendly And sure as stars above They’ll welcome you and maybe You’ll even fall in love. No need to pack much luggage 'Cause you'll be travelling light It's over yon horizon Just out of sound or sight. Put all your worldly plans on hold Your flight is leaving soon You may never get another chance To find your Brigadoon. * * * * The movie Brigadoon was made in 1954 starring Gene Kelly and Cyd Charisse. It's a fantasy story of a small village that appears but once every 100 years. It's quite a delightful tale, but the highlight comes when the two stars dance to the music of The Heather on the HIll.
