There are many different beliefs on this subject. This posting is informative, not meant to be preachy. It represents a minority point of view that is not often discussed. It does not challenge anyone’s beliefs. There is no need to disagree with it; most of humanity already disagrees. That is the nature of beliefs.

The Review

I believe the only form of judgment
that awaits us all is a life review
in which we will experience each of our
actions down to its most minute detail
but this time from the impact it had on others—
Every lie or deceit told or imposed by us will
come back from all those affected by it as a
composite wave of hurt feelings and lost trust.
Every false hope we generated will fill
us with the pain felt by everyone who relied
on our words promises and deeds.
Call it karma if you will—it is the price
of cruelty deceit and dishonesty.

I am thankful I will not have to relive the
agony that awaits mass murderers and
other tyrants who cannot escape the
consequences of their atrocious deeds.
But when I think of all the disappointments
I experienced and then to have those same feelings
magnified a thousands times over coming
from the ones that I heaped upon humanity
I am in for many shock waves of
disapproving human emotions.

I can neither change nor escape my past
and I will accept my just due for it.
But there is solace in this infinitely
wise and perfect remedial review—

You and I will also feel the love
that others experienced from our
good choices—our best choices.
And if our best comes from our most
sincere acts that show some courage
and deep concern for our fellow men--
also to women children animals trees
flowers rivers land oceans lakes and streams--
then perhaps there is still time to
bring enough of the good to this review
so that we each can walk away with our
spiritual composure intact.

It’s a thought worthy of us all.
