It is a price we all must pay—
We live we learn we love
We gain a circle of friends
Our buffer of sense and sensibility against the unknown
Then one by one they fall
Each taking with them
A part of us
Our understanding
Our joy
Our future.
And then we reflect
And rebuild
And recover.
With each cycle
Each undulation
We stave off bitterness
We reset our compass
And we go on
With another wrinkle
Another scar
Ultimately with enough
Wisdom and courage
And humility
To pull back that final curtain
With the expectation
That every one of them
Will be there awaiting our arrival
In a joyous homecoming
With the hope of understanding
The gift of revelation
And the promise of
Transcendence.

Friends are like treasure. When one leaves we have memories. We miss them but when they were here we were fortunate enough to have them as friends. So very nice to be back and reading your work again.
Love comes at a price but it is a price worth paying. To not love and to thus be pain-free would be unthinkable. I very much like how you have articulated the costs - but of how ultimately there is only gain in the gifts that love imparts. So much here to look forward to and to hope for.
