The path towards sanctity is steep and narrow.
I can be laborious and full of peril.
There are no shortcuts to perfection.
But lots of roads to rejection.
Along with the uncertainties of redemption.
The path is never quite clear.
The road never fast and near.
At times being weak one will despair.
Yea though I walk through the shadow of the valley of loneliness…
Though I traipse up the hills of despair…
On the pavements of pain and down the hills of regret…
My feet still move forward, my mind is set!
I know in my heart that thou art with me.
Even though my eyes refuse to BELIEVE.
Even though faith can be difficult to SEE.
Thou leadth me beside still waters.
Rivers and lakes surrounded by comfortable quarters.
Thou anoints my head with oil
Through his words and love I am spoiled.
Though my thoughts can run cold,
Thou restores my soul.
Thy rod and thy shaft, they comfort me.
Immediately, given new patience I suddenly see!
Slowly my confidence is restored and I think
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
All the days of my life.
I simply need to start doing things right.
From this thought I notice movement .
The cloud above has moved with considerable improvement.
The slowly passing dark cloud,
Gives way to rays of sunshine, beaming and proud.
Then down to the earth falls
An angel.
Shimmering with light like a shiny gold bangle.
It is a mere fallen angel
Still good, though not holy no more;
Who offers me friendship strong and pure.
As I turn to thank the lord, his holiness smiles.
He touches me as if I am a small child.
He walks ahead of me
The king, my father----His Majesty!
The lord is now far in front of the path I must take.
Yet I do not care, for my mind is awake.
Slowly I turn to my new friend.
This is a new beginning not nearing an end.
Together our hands, they shake.
I smile for the feeling is GREAT!
Together we turn to the
Lord and we thank him for the blessing.
Humble we are, for we knew whom we’re addressing.
Walking the earth with my angelic friend
The valley of loneliness seems distant
and so very foreign.
