Worn Thin
Wearing thin like an old pair of jeans.
There’s only so much a man can take,
Before he breaks.
Getting spun so fast blurs all the lines,
I’ve been here a long, long time,
Wearing thin.
The days grow long in my face,
As I see me age, shoulder slump
Under the world.
Dream of wine and songs,
Whatever just to carry on,
Let not the world make a tear in you.
Wearing thin, the edges of my life,
Wearing out from all this sorrow,
The world’s despair is creeping in,
Times like these,
It’s more than I can take,
My world is wearing thin.
Empty pictures of my life,
Taken while running to fight,
Against the strife.
What a lie that bends us all,
Unto the dusk of dawn,
Days are wearing thin.
Mirrors lie to us about our souls,
reflecting everything that’s locked inside,
My time to cry,
Dream of pleasant days,
Endless summer, though we move the cogs of war,
That make us all wear thin.
Worn thin.
Eyes are bloodshot and rusty,
No reason left inside.
No more tears to cry.
Everything, everyone is worn thin.
I fear I’ll blow away,
Fly away on the wind,
That carries me, one worn too thin.
