Erato, Greek goddess of poetry; where would I be without you?

Poem Artwork

Inspiration

For endless sunless days
And timeless starless nights
I’ve trudged
Across the barren wastelands
And desert sands
Devoid of thought
In my infertile mind

I’ve searched in vain to find
The oasis
The fountain
The source
From which ideas would spring forth

At last
A day most unexpected
Sweet rain of inspiration
Has fertilized the sterile
Dormant span
Of my bleak and arid soul

From baked and bone-dry sands
There now before my eyes
A myriad flowers bloom and bow
In gentle potent breeze
Of fruitful thought
As life springs forth
Inspiration freely flows
As darkness glows
Under a sky of singing stars
I humbly thank Erato

I admire your poem and envy (but lovingly) the talent it takes to just write it so shortly but with every word counting so and meaning so much. Your poetry is so visual to me even if you didn't have the pictures. You can paint pictures and emotions in people's minds and hearts. Take care and love from Meredith

In lie we all nedd some inspiration because of the trials and tribulations that we must face. What would i do or you do without it? Have you ever thought about that? I don't want to even think about it because i need inspiration everyday. Great write.

Hi Regis,

This glistens with promise, there will be a lovely tomorrow. My cup-o-tea! Thank you for your kind reviews. My last is an old poem that I got the inspiration to write when I looked at a fake tree that I had in the corner of a room in my house. The words just flew out of me and onto the page. I was just hoping that I got it right. :) Have a good day my friend.
