This is not an ode to misery; merely a rhyming acrostic about a sad and ever lurking presence in this world/life...

Misery    (Rhyming Acrostic)

Mean spirited and so bold
Insensitive and so cold
Seeking solace in the night
Ever avoiding the light
Residing deep in the gloom
You are the princess of doom

Misery does come into all of our lives, go away Misery, I want only happiness in my life. I want to be a princess, but not of doom. Do you think i'll make it!

WOW I like the comment of Mr Bowmen - Run like hell from doom and gloom OH Well! This is not heaven yet - It takes all kinds on this earth. But Jesus wrote in the dirt -" Let the one who is without sin throw the first stone." However He said "I do not condemn you, go and sin no more" The key word here is REPENT He forgave the woman at the Well who had seven husbands but was married to none. So we must forgive; hard as it is to do. To forgive the abuser is the hardiest. But we must try. Be a little flower in God's Garden. It is not so hard to do.

I think this poem is about someone. I for one have met many dark deceiver's who were not female but male. The Prince of Darkness who pretended to be pure white. This is very good.

Your writing is very much to the point of her essence, and it is well written. It may not be a good positive, but it surely represents the truth, about some people, that has to be known to others. This dark truth, I have had to face many times in my life, and I have had to write about it, too. Thanks for being the brave one and sharing this, Regis.

Regis, your verbalization chiseled like a sculptor the face of "Misery" that is easy to relate to. An imposing figure that we must all deal with many times throughout the course of our lives. A veiled, indiscriminate, bitch. I thoroughly enjoyed your acrostic my friend. May joy, love and peace forever make "Misery" an event obscured in the shadows of your life. Jon Michael

I am at odds with Lena below me here in some of the points she raises, so it's interesting how readers respond and react to what's offered so differently, Regis. I very much like this personification which puts a very real face on an otherwise abstract term and characterises it well. I find each line punchy and strong and absolutely crystal in its delivery. Neatly encompassed at the end, too. This works for me, but I am also very respectful of others' takes, so each to his/her own. This poem has certainly sparked and inspired many thoughts and directions: like misery itself. I think that, if the poem lacks emotion, then that is often true of the state of being miserable: a numbness occurs. Well done! :)) xx

This is a good poem, but it lacks emotion in my opinion and it is not a poem that leaves an impression in the end. When I read the poem the fourth line seems to ruin the flow, unless I am reading it the wrong way.

YES! I certainly agree. Misery is not only the princess of doom, though, but a spectral raven pecking at our souls crying "nevermore". I wish there was no misery, no wars, no weapons of destruction, no crime, no hate, no indifference, no bigotry. Let Misery lie in her realm and let us be happy and have gaeity in our lives. Thank you for sharing this macabre tale with an important message.

May the Lord Bless you, and those whom you love, and be with you always, and walk by your side. With love in my heart, joy to the world, peace on earth, & ((((((((((MANY WONDERFUL SISTERLY HUGGGGSSSS)))))))))), your little sister Barbie.
