Lovely Lady Lorca
With ebon hair like silk
And gentle eyes of emerald
In which one is apt to want to lose oneself
Some say she's a witch
Others, an angel
She cares not what Earthians think
She walks by day or night
In rain and sleet and snow
By sunshine or by moonlight
Her faithful white wolf, Droman
Ever by her side
They wander through field and forest
Over hills, down valleys
Free to be where they may want to be
But rest assured
Whichever fortunate place Lady Lorca chooses
Her love and light and peace shine forth
And there is hope
There is solace
There is healing
And all want her to stay
And never go away
I like this very much Regis, it captures the ineffable feeling of connectedness. Have you ever read a novel called The Tenderness Of Wolves by Stef Penny? That touches on the affinity of human and wolf.
Beautiful story-like poem. In a way it is a poem of strength. It's also a poem of beauty. Some people light up the world and make us feel that there is hope, that anything is possible, that things can get better...

I have wandered through many a forest glen and stopped by the water's edge listening for the creatures of the forest, but, like Bigfoot, I have never set sight on the likes of Lady Lorca you so describe. Maybe someday in a dream…

Having a huge Native American population here in New Mexico, I have met many of these beings who are at one with animal spirit. They are always interesting and one senses their wild side even when it is not displayed. Very nice offering, Reg, you brought her to life on the page.

I often wondered what it would be like to meet a true American Indian woman who believed in the GREAT spirit vs. the Holy spirit. Some folks say they are one in the same. Well I am not sure about that but they both are spirits and they are both greatly revered.
So this Indian woman who hangs out with the wolves enters the white man's culture. Who is the savage? The one that respects the land and loves nature as a part of their culture seems more decent. Most white settlers bought and sold everything including people. The land was property and bought and fought for at a great price. Now I know there were peaceful tribes and warrior tribes. I think we took the rights away from the Indian which was their land in the first place and then totally demoralized them or totally pissed them off!!! If we could turn back the sands of time perhaps we could learn to blend our cultures better and live in peace and harmony. Then many Lady Lorca's would be our treasure in an American Paradise. Hey, I can dream too my friend...
Perhaps "..Quiet Storm" will help rekindle old flames buried and long forgotten or express the love so deeply locked inside of your soul longing to be released.
