Something on the lighter side... ...a set of limericks.

Poem Artwork

Encounters: Little Red Riding Hood (and others)

When I met Little Red Riding Hood,
She was walking alone through the wood;
I offered to escort her,
She thought I would court her,
And immediately ordered that I should.

There once was an emperor named Nero,
Who thought of himself as a hero;
His fiddle he tuned,
While his city was ruined,
Nero would-be hero was a zero.

I once met a lady from Blaine,
She was small but not at all plain;
Although she was slight,
She surely could fight,
She proved it with a monster she’d slain.

There once was a fellow named Brent,
Alas he could not pay his rent;
He sought a solution,
And found absolution,
In church where he pitched his tent.

There once was a young lass named Brooke,
Who thought she’d been robbed by a crook;
But she was relieved,
And all was retrieved,
When Brooke took a look in her nook.

A newbie once smoked a dooby,
And acted like quite the booby;
Of himself made a fool,
When he fell in the pool,
On top of a gal named Ruby.

I once had a moment of truth,
It came about in a phone booth;
I was Superman,
A superb he-man,
But without my suit, quite uncouth.

There's a fellow from B.C. named Reg,
He read Ana’s words on a ledge;
Her wit made him laugh,
Which was quite a gaffe,
Thankfully he fell onto a hedge.

I once met a girl named Nelly,
Who made a magical jelly;
While singing her songs,
She righted all wrongs,
And still managed to run a deli.

She's a wonderful lass that Alice,
Eccentric but without any malice;
So when I shall meet her,
I’ll willingly greet her,
And pour sweet wine into her chalice.

Okay, I'm up for meeting Nelly and Alice. Anybody who makes "magical jelly" is okay in my book. Regis, you are wonderfully entertaining. -- Jeff Mason

Ah yes, the inimitable little miss hood et al. It is Alice that you should be leery of. May peace and love be always with you. Jon Michael

Delightful Limericks,Regis. All of them are 'spot on.' I believe it takes a certain wit to write these,ditties.
Are you trying to replace Ogden Nash by any chance?
Keep up the hilariously good work,and continued success.

There was a young maiden from Norway
Who hung by her heels from a doorway
I don't remember the rest
Or is this just a test
To see if you've thought of one more way?

You sure meet some strange ladies! But then, they are the spice of life. But I wonder who that silly, willy-nilly fellow named Reg, who fell off a ledge, is? ;-)

Sweet use of limerick and its rhyme scheme. I'm not sure how they all relate into a single poem because the subject keeps changing, although connected by the narrator's first person POV. Thanks for sharing. DW
