Autumn is here again with its many charms before the onset of winter.

Poem Artwork

Autumn Wind

The autumn wind is playful
He makes the leaf fairies joyful
He chases them here and there
Lifting their skirts in the air
He plays with the wind chimes
Composing his own rhymes
Through the blustery day
He continues to play
Until tired at last
Happy he’s had a blast
He makes his departure
For another venture
Now the forest is still
The night air has a chill
Reminding one and all
That winter will not stall
Thus enjoy the season
For that very reason

Not sure why you are referring to autumn as a "he"... That is a bit weird for me. But that aside, this is a great and creative poetic ode to the season.

my favorite season, regis. i'm not a summer guy, i'm from the uk ... what summer? but oh, the autumn, keats' season of mist and mellow fruitfulness. Nice poem, traditional and playful and accessible to all.

Great poem Regis, the onset of winter is not an event I look forward to with any measure of happiness or joy. I concur with Ron regarding great lines in this poem. May love and peace be always with my friend. Jon Michael

Some great lines in this little ditty like, "lifting the skirts of the leaf fairies." And, the blustery wind, "having a blast." Loved it.

Regis,

I enjoyed this poem. The wind here has been brutal. It rained for a week straight and the wind just howled. Today, sunshine and a gentle breeze.

Love and blessings,
Linda

Autumn is such a delight, No wonder it attracts poets by the score.
Still your rendition is fresh and original. Well done.

I have played around with ideas about the wind, most recently a poem about a tree that I haven't posted yet. This poem works very well, Regis, some good images, rhythms and rhymes. I enjoyed this. John

How wonderful! Fall is my favorite time of the year and now, when I go for my walks, I'll remember to tell the fairies that I love the little things that you have mentioned besides painting all of the leaves those beautiful colors!!!

Love ya!
