Someone is never really gone as long as they are in your thoughts.
Be it a love lost or a dear relative gone on to the next plain of existence. We never lose them as long as we still think about them.

Great poem Regis! Spacing can never screw up the content! In fact, I liked the pauses. Now about your ending. Is it up to me? Well, I found that prayer is the ONLY method that works in life. When my first wife died of cancer I was left with two girls to raise. Wanting a special lady I pursued and fell flat on my face. Then my Bible leader said, "Make a list of all the things you want in a woman and we will pray about it" so and I did. Not holding anything back I listed 21 qualities hoping God has a sense of humor and much compassion. In less than ten days God brought me to a Hospital where I found her. I looked at the list and checked off all 21 request but guess what? He provided even more! Elizabeth and I will be happily married for thirty years this December. Prayer works!

How winsome and beautiful this is. The spacing is not perfect, but I do agree that it adds to the wistful longing you portray. It slows down the reading so the reader has time to let each lovely line sink in.
She must be a dream-girl!

Yes Regis, it's the kind of sentimental thoughts that touch people like you can see from all the thoughtful comments. It is personal, though, the best cure is to move on and start finding ways to love being alone. Once you are able to do that, love will come your way in ways that you never thought possible.

Yes, the formatting problem. I suffer from that as well. Other sites are more user friendly, where you can actually just upload a PDF file formatted any which way. I am very fussy about formatting my writing, but have given up here.

As for the poem itself Regis, formatting aside, this is a wonderful and creative play on words, as well as a deeply emotional poem evocative of love and loss. Well done. The poem transcends the formatting. John

I wouldn't worry much about the formatting, the spacing gives the thoughts room to breathe between them. It is much more dramatic this way.

Wow! Thank you Windows 10 and the "Edge" browser for really screwing up my formatting for this poem. Amazingly, AuthorsDen is so far behind in keeping up with what is going on that this is the result. I'm not even going to bother fixing this. Quite frankly, I'm hugely disappointed and it borders on disgusted. Sorry about the rant. Really though, I ought to be able to cut and paste a Word 2016 document into my AuthorsDen pages. Get with it!
