REGIS, I UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU ARE SAYING, IN THAT ALL THE ATROCITIES YOU HAVE STATED EXIST. INDEED, WE SEE IT EVERY DAY ON THE NEWS AND THINGS ARE NOT GETTING BETTER AS SOME WOULD BELIEVE, BUT ONLY WORSE. SO, BEING HUMAN AND KNOWING THAT WE ARE PRONE TO WORRY, HOW IN THE WORLD DO WE MAKE IT THROUGH FROM DAY TO DAY AND PREVENT OURSELVES FROM BEING SUBMERGED AND ROBBED OF OUR PEACE IN THE VAST TROUBLES OF THESE...END-TIME DAYS? WE CAN'T...BUT GOD!!! FIRST OF ALL, FOR ME, ON A PERSONAL LEVEL... HAPPINESS FLEW AWAY YEARS AGO. SO THIS FACT COUPLED WITH THE WORLD'S PRESENT CONDITION WOULD MAKE IT ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE FOR ME TO EVER SMILE. BUT I'VE FOUND SOMETHING THAT HAS NEVER LEFT...JOY! GOD'S JOY REMAINS WHEN HAPPINESS, WHICH DEPENDS ON 'WHAT IS HAPPENING'... LEAVES.
THERE IS A HYMN THAT GOES LIKE THIS...'TURN YOUR EYES UPON JESUS, LOOK FULL ON HIS WONDERFUL FACE AND THE CARES OF THE WORLD WILL GROW STRANGELY DIM IN THE LIGHT OF HIS GLORY AND GRACE'. I CAN TELL YOU THAT THIS WORKS...PRAYER WORKS. ALL THE TIME, ANY TIME THROUGHOUT THE DAY. AND ALSO THE WORD OF GOD SAYS THAT THERE IS 'A PEACE FROM GOD THAT SURPASSES ALL UNDERSTANDING'. I CAN TELL YOU THAT THIS PEACE DOES EXIST. I PRAY FOR THIS PEACE AND I RECEIVE IT. AND HIS WORD ALSO SAYS THAT IF WE KEEP OUR EYES STAYED ON HIM, HE WILL KEEP US IN PERFECT PEACE. IT WORKS, THIS I KNOW PERSONALLY.
I AM NOT TELLING YOU THAT I DON'T AT TIMES GET DISCOURAGED AND SHED TEARS. WHAT I AM TELLING YOU IS...THE WORD OF GOD IS TRUE. FOR IT TELLS US THAT 'WEEPING MAY ENDURE FOR A NIGHT, BUT JOY COMES IN THE MORNING'. THERE IS NOTHING NEW TO GOD, HE IS STILL IN CHARGE AND EACH AND EVERY DAY HE IS 'GREAT IN HIS FAITHFULNESS TO BRING US NEW MERCIES OF PEACE, JOY, AND THE STRENGTH TO PRESS-ON!
SO IF GOD IS IN CHARGE, WHY DOES HE ALLOW THE THINGS THAT ARE HAPPENING TO HAPPEN? THERE ARE SO MANY THINGS WE HAVE NO ANSWERS FOR BUT THEN, GOD NEVER LIED TO US. HE TOLD US IN THIS WORLD WE WOULD HAVE TRIBULATION BUT THAT HE WOULD TAKE US THROUGH, IF WE TRUST HIM. SO IN SPITE OF ALL GOING ON WE CAN BE CONTENT AND 'LIVE BY FAITH' AS HE TOLD TO.

like you, I say, no way. it is as you have said. for those who have been in war, the stain is never washed away, I have been a part of two, one in my early youth for two years in Viet Namand then at the age of 60 for a tour supporting those again in their youth in Afghanistan.
"War is hell" is the worlds largest understatement.

But world statistics show that each year the people of the world are better off. The very thing that makes us fear, worldwide Internet access, is a source of enlightenment and progress.

I loved your use of the Walmart image in "Don't Worry, Be Happy." Envisioning the image of a shopping cart filled with the atrocities and sadness you listed is very effective.

Believe it or not I have never shopped at Walmart, but have seen numerous images that are less than appealing.

Personally, I don't think it's any different now than it was a 1000 years ago. It seems we can never save ourselves from ourselves, As George Carlin would say, We're barely out of the jungle.

I was really looking forward to reading the lighter side of Regis today. But negative poetic news got in the way. I sense what you say and news can make us feel this way. But usually, the news just reports the blues. Then we go on feeling sad all day.

Hint: I once did some research in a library concerning reading what was published in old newspapers. If you would read what they said ten years ago you would think the world would have ended in five. So we must search hard to read between the lines and know in the end, we will be just fine. If you don't think so, try reading some really old news sometime!

War HAS to happen after the weapons are made. Making weapons is the biggest boost to a country's economy. Wars are planned. All the countries in the world sit together and decide which country should be at war so that new weapons can be made. (More boost to the economy). They, of course, will decide on those countries that will not have the means to fight back! - This is just my opinion.

Oh, the refugees!... They really should have stayed in their own countries instead of walking thousands of miles on foot, to come to seek asylum in another country - All looking like strong men and are well-fed, with a cell phone in hands!!!! I thought they had been starving while walking thousands of miles to America, but how did they manage to charge up their cellphones while going through that journey? It's really a miracle that they were in such "bad" shape in their own country and they had to escape with no food and water and walked thousands of miles with cellphones that WORKED for that lengthy period of time. Where is the tower that sends off signals to their cellphones?? Where do they go to recharge their cellphones while walking thousands of miles to America?? Oh, yeah! They are refugees!!!

I give NO SYMPATHY TO THEM! ABSOLUTELY NO SYMPATHY!!! STRONG MEN LIKE THOSE ONES WHO LEFT THEIR WIVES BEHIND AND COME TO SEEK ASYLUM IN AMERICA AND CANADA I GIVE ABSOLUTELY NO SYMPATHY!!! THEY SHOULD HAVE STAYED BACK WHERE THEY BELONG AND HELP REBUILD THEIR OWN COUNTRIES!!!
