 The Way It Is

I went to sleep last night

Hoping to see your light

I woke up this morning

With my heart in mourning

As the dawn was breaking

My spirit was aching

I looked out the window

At the misty meadow

I gazed into the mist

It’s as if I’d been kissed

I’m sure I saw your face

Your loveliness and grace

I looked toward the east

Not a light in the least

I know that I must wait

That it’s never too late

Looking down from above

I know you know my love

Our journey will go on

Forever and anon

I immensely miss you

The excruciating pain in ths exquisite love poem jumps rght off the page at you.

I know that feeling. You just have to live with it.
And absorb it.

So heart touching and beautiful, Regis. Love is eternal, it just morphs into something different, more than it ever was before.

She should return as promptly as the sun at dawn, but it's obvious that she has moved on.

Beautiful, as always, Regis, and sad. Some loves do transcend time and space. I believe this. I have to.
