 Knight of Night

Queen Guinn has knighted me
Her knight of faith
She does not know this night
I am a faithless steedless renegade
Fumbling through a forest of black orchids
Among giants of ebony
Whose gnarled malevolent arms
Reach out to find purchase in me

Down below
A sea of silver mist
Has swallowed the mighty river
All the familiar has vanished
There is nothing
But swirling waves of blinding fog
Like ghosts haunting the river
And my confused mind

Knight me again Queen Guinn
And this time grant me your blessing
Along with the steed I need

When the seas calm and the fog lifts all is well....
Your poem "Knight Of Night" reminds me of Traditional English Poetry...

Once a King, always King - once a knight is enough.
However, the knights of modernity buy their filthy titles.

AS FAR AS I AM CONCERNED...THE ENTIRE PROBLEMS RESTS WITH QUEEN GUINN, INDEED. FOR, THE ROYAL ONE THAT I KNOW 'NEVER' ANOINTS A SUBJECT WITHOUT SUPPLYING 'EVERYTHING' NEEDED TO PERSEVERE IN THAT CALLING. POOR KNIGHT OF NIGHT...AND HE'S GOING BACK TO THE SAME QUEEN?!?! ARE YOU KIDDING????(SMILE). THANKS FOR SHARING, REGIS. HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU AND YOURS. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...HIS+INSPIRATIONS

Wonderful imagery in Knight of Nights, Regis! Lots of spirit in here, too, “I am a faithless steedless renegade,”Along with the steed I need” ~~ enjoyable . . what jumped out most of all for me is the forest of black orchids. That is haunting by itself, but with giants and vanishing familiar, it creates a deliverable on fantasy setting. Neat step into your story for me, thanks* I can imagine a soundtrack for the scene even. ~~ djl

OMG! You just jumped out of your box.
This is sensational. Modest and overpowering.

Perhaps you need to get off your high horse. Just joking.

I semblance to your life and your place where love once ruled and you were the knight of the house. Now, alone and abandoned, sometimes the fog covers the valley below and you get disoriented, except when you write beautiful poetry like this.

A wonderful poem! To some extent, it reminds me (intertextually) of "La Belle Dame sans Merci" - A Ballad by John Keats. Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful, imaginative work!
