Regis,
In all reality we NEED each other. Even those who feel the "need" to say be independent. It just isn't so.
We do need contact, touch, communication, help, hugs, voices, love & laughter & even strength from each other.
Now you know this happens wheather we want to or not. The person at the stop light, the man walking down the street, that person you smiled at that you didn't really see......yep it is out of our hands!

There is alot of strength within all of us. And until we learn to stand alone it's almost impossible to stand beside another. We have to know who we are and where we want to go in life. The power is within, but given to us. I agree with Eileen one is a lonely number. And 'I' is mortal. The power within is 'Faith'. This is an excellent write. It explores the eternal question of power over our existance. Well written.
