All the hours are caught between the days,
Slowly trickling through my sweet anticipation.
Every movement steps backwards.
As I muddle in the distance That separates a soul.
And blocks out all emotion I see hidden
in vacant faces that walk along these wires.
Captive, in the early cool
Of a summer daydream.
Like a cat fixed on its prey
Flicking it's tail back and forth.
I see you in the shadows
Of all the things you spoke to me
Without a single word.
Beyond walls where the whistle blows
To mark another day,
You have walked alongside of me.
Among rolling hills and deep green fields
Where I yearn to keep the outside far from reach.
Your absence has left me
alone again in another day,
As I struggle to see you.
To hear your sultry voice unravel me
to the simple terms of endearment.
I will be alive in those days ahead.
Moving around you like a carousel.
Lifting you up
so you can feel the exhilaration
that rushes through my fingertips.
Transfixed and elusive
I will cover you like a summer storm;
Tasting every drop of ecstasy
That lingers on the tip of your tongue.
My hands around your waist
As you run free inside the quivers of my heart.
Those three days will slip through my hands quickly.
But live beyond the clutches of my reality.
Like a mist of magnolia
And sweet honeysuckle,
That overtakes a southern lull
After a storm has passed.
