I woke up late this morning,

Half asleep and late for work,

Looking for my set of keys,

Going near berserk,

I emptied out the pockets,

Of every coat I own,

But the whereabouts of those old keys,

Still remained unknown,

They wasn’t in my trousers,

They wasn’t in the car,

And they wasn’t in the hallway,

The way they usually are,

So I woke my wife and asked her,

If she knew where they were,

That’s when the thought occurred to me,

That I’d given them to her,

She said, “they’re in my handbag”,

And tipped it on the bed,

Searched for quite a while,

“Well they’re not in there”, she said,

“They might be in the kitchen,

Or on the hallway shelf”,

I said, “they’re not”, she said, “they are,

I put them there myself”,

So another hour of searching,

As fruitless as the first,

By now my patience wearing thin,

And I began to curse,

I said, “they must be somewhere,

They can’t just disappear,

It’ll be about time to come back home,

Before I’m out of here”,

So we emptied out the cupboards,

Along with all the drawers,

And that’s when my wife remembered,

That she’d left them in the door
