Wouldn’t it be wonderful if they really served our needs,
These pompous politicians we elect.
Instead of satisfying their own damed personal greed,
And the billionaire elite that they select.
Oh! Would it not be fantastic, if they could comprehend,
What it’s like to have to make their money stretch,
If they had to learn the finer art of making their ends meet,
They’d be slower with inflation, I suspect.
But how can they understand the needs of us, the common folk,
When they were born with privilege and wealth,
To say, they understand the things we need is just a joke,
Until they feel the hardships we endure, themself.
They’ve never had to choose between food, or keeping warm,
As many of our old folk do today,
They’ve been mollycoddled since the day that they were born,
Well, in my opinion, most have anyway.
There was a time in politics when honesty was king,
And a manifesto had to be the truth,
Now it seems they can change their minds the moment that they win.
And blame the previous party without proof.
Though I suppose the previous party were no better than they are,
And filled their bank accounts at our expense,
They all rely on their expenses to convey them near and far,
Whilst most of us can barely pay the rent.
What we need in this country, well all countries I suppose,
Are common people, leading from the front,
Those that know the hardships of the common working class,
Who’ll put their country first and take the brunt.
Giving aid to foreign countries, is commendable, I know,
We all should strive to help our fellow man,
But charity, I firmly believe, should begin at home.
There must be others thinking as I am.
How can we afford the billions we give away in aid,
Yet not protect our own sick and infirm?
And accept asylum seekers, by the thousand every year
While our own poor and neglected go ignored,
They build houses by the thousand, to home the immigration flood,
Whilst our ex-servicemen sleep on the street,
Yet they don’t extend the infrastructure, the way they know they should,
And increase the amount of Doctors, Hospitals and Schools and Police.
No wonder this whole country is crumbling to it’s knees,
It’s worse than it’s ever been, and getting worse,
The politicians we elect are like a millstone round our necks.
That are far too scared to put great Britain first.
We’re a laughing stock, and that’s a fact, Europe sniggers behind our back,
That we think we’re free, but they still pull the strings,
And this government, I believe it’s true , would put us back in the EU,
And have us hum whatever tune the EU sings.
Now I don’t call for revolution here, for that would be my greatest fear.
But it’s obvious that changes must be made
Let’s make Great Britain, Great again, while some of our patriotism still remains,
Or are we like our politicians, Too Afraid.
