The Mask

Beneath the anxious surface
Lies an infinite pool of love

Beneath the icy cold façade
Lies a warm heart

Beneath the unapproachable demeanor
Lies smoldering passion

Beneath a broken heart
Lies Hope

Take the mask off
It doesn’t serve you well!

Survival sometimes forces us to wear masks.
But I agree--we dare not master the ruse.

Is this a self-portrait? ;-) Love it, no matter. -- Jeff (your picture doesn't exude "icy cold," so I doubt it's a self-portrait)

What a wonderful lesson. When I see authors hiding behind pseudonyms and false personas, it makes it much harder for me to believe anything they write.

Yep. We all tend to hide behind masks, refusing to show our true selves. Short and very much to the point is this little beauty.
