Nightmare

I was expecting more
Than to be expecting a war
Because I had hoped to
See better when the year was new
To see 2020
But after all I saw plenty
Then before I saw this
Not what I was wanting to see
That has been haunting me

Tonight the lights are flickering
Dictators bickering
As hubris fights its nemesis
In sight of the abyss
When it seems like 1914
History repeating
As farce when the worst are beating
Their chests to be the best
Of the worst and keep on cheating
Sheep who keep on bleating

They get to me I get depressed
You may know what I mean
2020 appears so far
Unclear but here we are
At not what I was looking for
Where having been before
The mystery is that we let
Them get away with it
By now I thought maybe we knew

But then I should have seen
And would have if I wanted to
What we would soon go through
Behind my hands from in between
My fingers covering
My eyes could have seen it coming
Trying not to look but
If I do I can see through what
Those lying to us do
Who chose this nightmare coming true
Now as they dream of war

The generals delight in these games. They don't have to put their bodies in the danger zones.

I think this one will blow over again like so many others in recent years. Not worth the destruction and damage just to play war games.

My father was in the Korean conflict and all of the men in my father's family were military including my three brothers and my husband, a Viet Nam Veteran. This "fancy boy" in the WH with the girly hands looks like a balloon in the Macy's Day Parade.......can't believe what I'm seeing! I'm stunned that so many people can only think "in the box".

Hugs!

Our biggest fear 3 years ago is what's happening right now. Will we ever be safe from lunatic rulers and our would be king?

Those who been through WWII and Korea or Viet Nam know what horror real war was is like. This high tech-o game-playing tit for a tat dare to kill you circus does not even compare. This is a test to see what lines can be crossed. It is a very dangerous game but still does not even hold a candle to any all out war. Yes, pray for peace for the common folks. These leaders are ALL insane! Amen!
