The world collapses around me
Everything lapses and yet
The earth rebounds resoundingly
Out here where I can see it
Bringing in spring astoundingly
Oblivious to regret
Given an opportunity
Unlike the world to forget
The earth goes on around the sun
But the world has come undone
Reality a mystery
Dystopian disruption
Interrupted by corruption
Like the end of history
Sickening at the quickening
Of an ironical spring
Nothing will ever be the same
Over at the casino
But having played and lost the game
Paying what it cost we know
From what is left and what is gone
Birth and death the earth will go
With or without us but go on
Without a word unworldly
The earth will not wait to see
What the fate of the world will be
But a better one begun
If anything means anything
From the embers of this one
Remembering humanity
After what this vanity
That cannot see has been and done
