Be Kind

Brother Dog or a Desert Primrose
I would rather write about things like those

Sometimes I write what some fight about
By heart but apart from getting it out
Without feeling better about it
Hoping it may help and yet I doubt it
In the end I would rather transcend

May it get better someday so I may
Not have to anymore anyway

If this diseased dystopia could end
In our transcending turning away
From getting burned again by what went wrong
Learning the hard way to get along
No time like the present to leave the past

Ready to do better or to try
My best for the rest I try to be strong

But everything keeps getting worse so fast
I fret and get upset at what I
Keep trying to forget before I die
Wondering how to get through between
Life and death under You-Know-Who-I-Mean

Now after all we have all been through
I want to make it better if I can

Sometimes it takes a haunted old man
Having learned the hard way what not to do
What not to say to know what to say
(Something we earn when we learn the hard way)
Somebody like me to be your friend

What I mean to say to humankind
Between us fellow humans is: be kind

A most important phrase. Whatever we do, being kind should always be on our mind. I really like the message in this poem. And two things that you love, your dogs and the wild desert flowers, is just frosting on the kindness cake.
