The Cult of Being Insulting

Insult comedy was an odd
Choice as the voice of authority
No longer shocked we walk away
From being mocked by a mockery

Acting as stock market hero
Practicing scowling in the mirror
Blasphemy in the name of God

The exchange is a strange casino
Gamed by a failed casino boss
Backers jack it back up but we know
Their gain can only be our loss

Through plunder and blunder we wonder
When what they do to us is done
Then having cleaned out the treasury
Been mean enough to everyone:

Can we ever get out from under
This cult of personality?

Or how does this person get away
With it? One Law run hungrily
Two scoops for The One let there be none
Of this talk of democracy

Dow numbers now mean nothing somehow
Martial law blundering nearer
Seeing the wrong one being The One
Someone not strong enough to be

Dominate the battlespace they say
We have become the enemy

May we be strong enough anyway
To keep our eyes open to see
How all the lies are coming undone

As we walk away to be free
Of this dystopian disrespect
Respect is what people expect
And deserve of who serve we elect

The cult of being insulting now
Resulting in absurdity
