The Great Sadness

Describes sadness in depth

Standing in the shadow of the great sadness reduced by its immenseness

I am frozen by it's frigidity

There is no mercy here

A darkness so consuming

It tries to own me

Realizing that the quicksand in which I am stuck can end me, I awaken

Unable to move

Ability to describe the great sadness does not remove it

Nor does it release me from it's power to destroy me

Perhaps awareness will aid me in taking the first steps towards freedom.

Here in this void I cannot see myself...trust myself

Here in this abode

I fight back relentlessly because I am a Warrior Queen...my only gift

Battling what I cannot see

Squelching the screaming of my heart

Wears me to the bone.

The great sadness is as hard as rock

The escape will come only when it does

I will be ready...and steadfast

Nothing can stop me but me

Nothing can hurt me but me

Nothing can heal me but me

Nothing is just...nothing

In this madness... nothing is everything

I've known such sadness. This poem describes it so well. We have felt it yet you and I are still here fighting it. A valuable poem, Catherine.

Wow, this is a maturely-expressed piece of writing. It is also a great expression in word artistry, the word “Squelching” and “screaming”. Wisdom abounds in “The escape will come only when it does” and that is the maturity, “nothing is everything” the wisdom, and those four lines of “Nothing….. “ are the poetry. ~~ djl

You certainly don't seem to be looking at this from the outside, but living it. One way to get rid of all these bad feelings is to write about them, get them out, set them free where you can start to get better again.

I feel with you, sending healing vibes towards you. I don’t know what happened, but you describe a crippling sadness so well, I can almost feel and touch it. Well written.

Stabbing Pencey Boudreaux by Mary Lynn Plaisance

A poignant story about letting go of a narcissist in your life. Have you ever been attacked FULL force by a narcissist? It's the closest thing to being stabbed over and over in the back.
