Where Did Common Sense Go?

Something is wrong.
Something is missing.
Something is lost.
Can’t call it common sense,
It’s not common enough;
We only know it,
By what we see,
Or what we don’t see:
Silly laws inventing reality,
Out-of-control Government,
Biting the hand that feeds it,
With non-sensical regulations,
Continually spending more,
Than it earns the wrong way;
Schools afraid to teach values—
The Ten Commandments
Being considered contraband;
No more trust or politeness,
Rejecting life isn’t always fair,
No good reason or responsibility,
Criminals being treated better
Than their innocent victims;
Too much short-sighted self-interest,
Without kind compassion for others,
Egos and pride and all me now;
Never doing what matters most—
Giving common sense some CPR,
So our kids can breath and live,
In a more sensible world,
Managing time and the overload,
Solving problems with patience,
Using their freedom responsibly,
Restoring some common order,
To know real truth and beauty,
Having genuine peace of heart,
Succeeding in finishing,
What we failed,
Remembering
What was lost.
