A Matter of Choice

by William S Cottringer — Read all 146 poems by William S Cottringer

You create your destiny and quality of life by intentional choices. Who is winning?

Tuesday, October 27, 2015

Over there,

A Man with a big grin,

And supply of warm content,

Rarely unhappy, angry or frustrated,

Relatively free and able,

To act in a positive way,

Expecting the best from efforts,

But not until well after,

His share of bleeding and bruises,

Surviving a series of failures.

What’s the cause you say?

Maybe more trust and responsibility,

And less blame and excuses;

Knows his purpose and lives it,

Always learning, growing and improving,

Reaching for his best self,

Where he always wanted to be,

And to his surprise always was,

Right there with family and friends.

Now over here,

Another with a frown,

And ornery load of discontent,

Without joy or peace,

Rarely free or able

To do anything but react,

Usually in a negative way,

And excess of stress,

Without much success,

Or hope for relief,

A sad prisoner of distress,

What’s the cause you say?

Maybe more blame and excuses,

And less trust and responsibility,

Avoiding purpose by running from it.

Never learning, growing and improving,

Staying his worst self,

Where he never wanted to be,

But always has been,

All alone.

Who’s winning here?

The Prosperity Zone

Ron--I think the key is maintaining an optimistic attitude, despite the facts to the contrary that we all see. People who lean towards optimism make more money, live longer, have fewer medical problems, are happier and are more successful in what they are doing. But, I know I got a lot of my own optimism from my parents--so what starts out right had a better chance of ending right, so to speak. Bill C.

A very good description of two personalities: one positive and one negative. The outcome can be easily predicted from what I see. A great look into the human psyche and how it works. Very instructive and enlightening.

WHO'S TO SAY. THE 'REAL' PART OF EITHER OF THEM HAS NEVER BEEN SEEN. FOR MANY JUDGES THE OUTER APPEARANCES, GOD JUDGES THE HEART. THANKS FOR SHARING. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...JOYCE * HIS INSPIRATIONS
