I want beauty,

I want money,

I want power,

I want fame,

I want success,

I want a new car,

I want a new home,

But,

In the meantime,

I need meaning,

I need purpose,

I need love,

I need peace,

I need friends,

I need wholeness.

I need much more,

Than I could ever want,

So I need to want

What I need,

More than need

What I want.

Thanks all! I find myself at most peace when I learn to want what I need, and then magically some of the wants follow...The things I know now would have benefited me then, but then again, maybe that is what life is--finding out what it is all about and figuring how to meet the challenges. That is certainly one purpose we all have in common. And I do think it is time for the pendulum to swing back towards focusing on our commonalities more and on our differences less. Just my two cents for Friday the 13th because it is my luck day (I was born on a Friday the 13th and never bought into that superstition. Bill C.

Powerfully expressed in poetry the difference between needs and wants.
