My rollercoaster ride through life

 My Life

by Bill Cottringer

Like a roller coaster ride,

Up, down, and all around,

Full of contradictions,

Inconsistencies and changes.

Some successes,

Many failures,

Wins, joys, and satisfaction,

Losses, tears, and disappointments.

Views from the mountain top,

And from the swamps below,

Once with an ocean view,

Later homeless and penniless.

Some smart choices,

Many dumb ones,

Wanting to speed up,

Now needing to slow down.

Always looking for something,

Even when I already had it,

Entertaining dreams,

Horrible nightmares.

Friends and enemies,

Brocken bones and bruises,

Smiles and laughter,

Loving and hating.

Safe and cautious,

Bold and risky,

Chasing success,

Understanding failures.

Wanting things.

Needing others,

Wanting to quit,

Never giving up.

Expecting the best,

Doubting the rest,

Creating some chaos,

Restoring some order.

Being fearful at times,

But always with hope,

A loss today,

A gain tomorrow.

Being more thankful,

Less selfish,

Less greedy,

More loving.

At the end of the day,

All that I can say,

I get a C for results,

But for effort an A.

It's the ups and downs of life that make out the best bricks for a solid foundation.

Isn't it what life is all about? I think the ups and downs, the success and failures make life more interesting for us. I especially like it when a rainbow apoears after a big storm.

Thank you Ronald for your gracious complement. Much appreciated. I hope 2024 is good to us both!! I tried to publish two new books with Kindle Direct Publishing of Amazon and ended up with my account being closed and the published books being removed for no specified reasons. $1k investment wasted and my mistake for not reading the horrible on-line reviews of KDP/Amazon. The book of poetry was a significant overhaul of an earlier book "Reality Repair Rx" published by the scamming Publish America and I never could get ahold of them to make sure I had the rights under my copywrite with them. I gave the information to another publisher to see what I could or couldn't do with the revised manuscript. Thanks again for your valuable support.

While I doubt you have all of the negative attributes you portrayed I can understand why the results came out the way they did. "That's life, that's what the people say…."

This is the first poem I've seen of yours and I must say that you are good at poetry as you are with your fine articles on how to live better. Bravo.

Happy new year,

Ron
