I sit here in my living room
Television projecting images I'm not watching.
My mind is not in this place.
It is as usual hop scotching
From thought to thought and memory to memory
Back and forth and back and forth
From the present to the past
From what I am now
To what I was then.
Are we two different people
Or merely a confusing paradigm
Of how someone changes
Over the course of time?
If I could have known then
What I know now
Would I? Could I? Should I tell her,
And if so how?
Would that "I" believe my tale?
Would she make the same mistakes?
Or would her life be altered by the knowledge
With more love and fewer heartaches?
Would her knowing
Change what I have become?
Would my life have been more exciting
Or harder and more humdrum?
Safe in the knowledge I will never have to choose;
I can mine the depths within
Imagining the possibilities
Of what might have been.
Wow, can I relate to this wonderful insight of the mind. Television on almost all day long for noise basically, but seldom to I ever pay attention to any of it. Mind always racing between the past and future and very little credence to the here and now, great write...

I have often pondered that same puzzle, Bobbi. We all have. I have come to the conclusion that, no matter how good or bad I was in the past, I would not have any of it different. Without every shard of that mosaic, I would not be me, and if I was not me, who would I be? Tee Hee!
I think it is only natural to wonder as we look back in time at our younger spirits if we would have taken the same paths knowing where they would eventually lead. I think I may have taken a few different ones but as the poem suggests if the outcomes were known where would be the excitement of living and loving. We grow and learn from our mistakes and our successes equally so I am glad I lived the live I did. Well written and very thought provoking.

She was quite capable of taking care of herself...She appreciated everything he was doing for her and the Grandmothers Four, but she needed his help, not for him to take over.
Children will enjoy reading and hearing about the silly antics of a puppy still learning how to be a good listener. This story is about Riley, a cute, little, rescue puppy who gets into all sorts of predicaments.
