We went to the mountains,
just my husband and me.
Two days of escape,
a need to be free.
He took me to my favorite place
to the river at the very top.
We walked the banks,
until I came to a stop.
Tears flowed down my face.
I could not believe what I saw.
Just a quiet place, created such awe.
The river was rough all around,
except for this small peacefull place I found.
It reminded me of my life,
the rocks, the storms, the swells.
It reminded me that God's love
never fails!
The river raged all around this spot;
like the storms of life rage around me everyday.
The spot was not troubled by all that moved around.
In it, peace for my soul, I found.
God showed me in that river,
He is the shelter from the storm.
He is the peace,
when choas is the norm.
That peaceful spot protected by chance and rock,
stopped me in my tracks, with tears of shock.
I thought we came to this place,
just to get away.
God had other plans,
for our river visit that day.

You are really good at painting word-pictures! Now I think this one is my favorite of your poems. Jesus is a shelter indeed! Keep up the good work.
