Gather around everyone and listen to my tale
I have a story, a story to tell or just a thought to share.
I wish to speak of days gone by; of people and deeds that made us who we are.
The deeds of exploration, yes the seekers of the answers, those who dared to ask “why and what if”.
What mysteries lay at the bottom of the seven seas or are buried to this day in those high mountain peaks?
Do you share my fascination with what lies behind that unopened door; is it as hard to contain your blessing of an overwhelming curiosity?
All the books that have been written and the tales that have been told of men who arose to the challenges that lay before them; have they become lost icons to a world full of videos and momentary or fleeting thoughts?
Do we revel in the high scores of games played as opposed to reading or listening to the stories or tales of real people who stepped up or stood for something real?
Please sit me down and hand me a book and let me learn of morals and ethics and battles waged for the greater good.
I wish to read of human, compassion, adventure, and yes I wish to read the tales that show us love; let my mind dine at the banquet of human strength and vulnerability.
Tell me of mountains and rivers that run wild; great fields of wheat and corn that bend to a strong gusty wind.
Show me great soft blue skies where I might glimpse the almighty eagle, which is the symbol of my land, a land that would also allow this same eagle to fly next to a dove.
Would someone write the words that will paint these pictures in my mind? Help me see the things that make a difference as opposed to those that have no real meaning after all.
What tales and what secret meanings are there for me to tell? What shall I try to pass on to help make this a better world?
But, then who would read my stories or listen to my tales, sometimes I wonder if any one really cares?
