This poem was inspired by my observations of the future of the Earth's supply of natural resources...

Poem Artwork

River damned

desert land

deplenished oxygen

water a toxin

opportunity for abuse

restrict the use

the lakes run dry

no renewable supply

corporations usurp the water, sigh

hydration costs very high

water loans cause enormous strife

a lone farmer takes his life with a knife

sunset for oil turns water gold

secret deals never told

Lake Navisha sold to thieves

expensive air does not satisfy needs

economic, political, and world powers

try to build Babylon towers

the Bushes buy Paraguay

in masked disarray

It is not too late

to change our driest fate

A most apt and timely message, Ava. Humans have abused the privilege of fresh water for far too long a time and I am afraid, we are about to reap the consequences. Love and best wishes,

Regis
