BLUE GOLD

This poem was inspired by my observations of the future of the Earth's supply of natural resources...

River damned

desert land

deplenished oxygen

water a toxin

 

opportunity for abuse

restrict the use

 

the lakes run dry

no renewable supply

corporations usurp the water, sigh

hydration costs very high

 

water loans cause enormous strife

a lone farmer takes his life with a knife

 

sunset for oil turns water gold

secret deals never told

Lake Navisha sold to thieves

expensive air does not satisfy needs

 

economic, political, and world powers

try to build Babylon towers

 

the Bushes buy Paraguay

in masked disarray

It is not too late

to change our driest fate
