My father said nothing

He did nothing

He showed nothing

He gave nothing

Into the night without a peep

Into the deep wallowing depths of murky water

Shingles and jingles ring in my head

Wiggles and giggles of summer time fun dead

Off to the races without a horse or snout

Off to the races without a doubt and clout

Money we had not –home we had barely

Peace, love tenderness –what's that ?

My father did nothing

As he walked out the door

As he unclaimed my momma

And denied me

My father did nothing as he packed up and left

He said nothing as he started another life and family

So now 25 years later only to discover

My father did everything

Yet he did it all

Because he donated

He gave –

Yes he did it all for his sperm has made me

He did it all has my mother's egg received with delight

But yet he did nothing has my mother stood her ground

Yes 25 years later only to discover

it was my mother who said goodbye –get out

You do nothing –you have nothing

You don’t provide clothes you don’t see your child

You bring no food you don’t play with your child

You want other women Fine but you cant have me at the SAME DAMN TIME

My child needs stability

If you want to see her provide for her

If you want to be father then grow up and and BE one

If not ...  goodbye …

25 years later it was all something

that came out of a nothing moment in time

that lasted and hour or less

25 years ago it was nothing

as I played with my toes only 851 days old

25 years later I am something
