It Never Happened

The clothes shed, the mirror frozen
On the idea of kidding myself
Another glance, reminds me for that day
And how I kid myself
Such strong emotions were simply overdrawn
Quiet silences made all the lies seem so true
Another touch, another kiss there
Now as I glance, I know I’m now impure

How could I risk it
How couldn’t I have known
I should have seen more to him
Not just what I wanted to

It didn’t happen
I didn’t lose myself
But I never gained what I felt I would then
I couldn’t resist his touch
I couldn’t step away from him
I couldn’t deny what I thought I wanted then
He didn’t just use me
I wasn’t just another girl
I was the only one and now I’m nothing
It was over just like that
But it never happened
I’m still intact somehow yet I feel like nothing

We were so quiet, so still if you wish
How to know the silent screams inside myself
The thought of just us two, lying together as one for once
How to know we were never even ourselves
The gentle caressing, the secret looks from eye to eye
A feeling yet pausing, maybe knowing right from wrong
There was so much denying, useless now it seems
What happened never happened, at least to me

How could I risk it
How couldn’t I have known
I should have seen more to him
Not just what I wanted to

It didn’t happen
I didn’t lose myself
But I never gained what I felt I would then
I couldn’t resist his touch
I couldn’t step away from him
I couldn’t deny what I thought I wanted then
He didn’t just use me
I wasn’t just another girl
I was the only one and now I’m nothing
It was over just like that
But it never happened
I’m still intact somehow yet I feel like nothing

We went there but we really didn’t
Did we?
At least that wasn’t the outcome
For me
We never went that far
We never will again
Best to blind our eyes
As the mirror’s still frozen

It didn’t happen
I didn’t lose myself
But I never gained what I felt I would then
I couldn’t resist his touch
I couldn’t step away from him
I couldn’t deny what I thought I wanted then
He didn’t just use me
I wasn’t just another girl
I was the only one and now I’m nothing
It was over just like that
But it never happened
I’m still intact somehow yet I feel like nothing

It didn’t happen
I didn’t lose myself
But I never gained what I felt I would then
It was over just like that
But it never happened
I’m still intact somehow yet I feel like nothing

How could I risk it
How couldn’t I have known
I should have seen more to him
Not just what I wanted to

A heart is bleeding! WOW....I am amazed at such a piece. It cries so hard. The depth is truly amazing. Denial...sometimes... we give better advice than what we take. It is just unfortunate that others don't have brains like us :) Excellent!

Thanks,
Emilie
